Codex for Mac updated with new Appshots feature that instantly gives chat context

OpenAI just released this week’s Codex desktop app update, and it includes a brand new feature on Mac called Appshots.

OpenAI updates Codex with Appshots, upgraded goal mode, faster in-app browser, and shared plugins

Appshots is now available for Codex for Mac, adding a new way to instantly provide context to your chat.

“On your Mac, press Command-Command to attach your app window to a Codex thread,” OpenAI says. “Codex gets both a screenshot and text from the window, including content beyond what’s visible onscreen.”

Today’s update also includes an upgraded /goal command, which OpenAI documents here.

OpenAI says the in-app browser inside Codex is now faster and more precise with advanced annotation mode and batch comments support.

Business users can now share custom plugins between teams. Enterprise users can reach out to OpenAI to request early access to shared plugins support.

OpenAI also says that Analytics in Codex in business and enterprise users now includes more details around active users, credits, tokens, runs, user leaderboards, lines of code generated, and plugin usage.

The latest version of Codex for Mac is available now. Last week, OpenAI launched a preview of Codex iOS access through the ChatGPT app, which it has also improved with new features this week.
